Create The Life You Want By Rippling - Lesson Eight

So yesterday we talked about not judging a book by its cover right? Well lesson number eight is a perfect motivator to put that lesson into practice:

Talk To Everyone...Even Strangers

One of the sure-fire ways to start creating the life you want is to recognize nothing, and I do mean nothing, happens in a vacuum. You need people. They need you. It is simple, straightforward but so true.

The quickest way to begin creating something amazing is to reach outside of your box and start making an effort to connect with those who cross your path in life. Remember the treasure chest lesson? Everyone and I do mean everyone you meet has the potential to add value to your life. You simply have to take the time and set aside your pre-judgment to get the ball rolling.

Maybe that is someone in line at Starbucks. Maybe it's the person who always shows up at the gym about the same time as you. Perhaps it's a complete stranger you meet at a cocktail party, in the elevator or sitting on the park bench.

I know I have said it before but it is so foundationally important that I am going to say it again....people are put in our path for a reason. If you don't stretch your legs to explore why, one thing is for certain....you will never know. What might you be missing?

Take the time today and begin exploring. Take a chance. Say hello to a perfect stranger and just start talking. It may feel strange at first but trust me it becomes easier with practice. You don't have to have an agenda, just be yourself. What is on your mind today? What would you most like to know about someone? For me....I am always fascinated how many people live in Austin that aren't from Austin and that is one of the ways I bridge connection to someone I don't know.

If you have no idea how to get the ball rolling or where to find the stones to start creating the conversation Ripples, look back through my BLOG at some of the Ripple Connection questions or email me and let me help you get started.

The person who you are meant to meet is going to appear today. You aren't going to let fear or those nasty pre-judgments and limiting filters hold you back from saying hello. When you do the clouds in your world of opportunity are going to clear.

Take a chance and make something happen today.....and as always.....

Create The Life You Want By Rippling - Lesson Two

You learned in yesterdays lesson one of my important mantras in terms of motivation behind Rippling. Now let me share with you my main Treasure Chest mantra that makes reaching out to others to create those Ripples possible.

"People are an unbelievable treasure chest of opportunity. You just have to take the time (and make the effort) to pick the lock, lift the lid and look at what's inside."

Most of us are really bad at connecting, not only with strangers but people we might see every day. One of the reasons we are so bad is because we allow our past experiences, filters, emotional baggage, fear and a myriad of other things cloud our judgment and block our path.

Donna Karlin an amazing friend and mentor of mine has a great example of how our filters a.k.a. garbage gets in our way in her BLOG today. Check it out by clicking here.

When I started looking at people for the world of possibilities they offer, not just for what they could do for me or my career, the doors of opportunity really started to open for me in all areas of my life. I began to see that it wasn't all about me; which as the youngest of four kids, I must admit was somewhat shocking to learn. No, I am as you are, simply a passenger on this train and no matter how much we might like it to, the world is never going to revolve around either of us. We are all in it together so I believe we should all make the most of it.

I do believe that everyone you meet, everyone who crosses your path is placed there for a reason. Some have a very distinct purpose while others simply pass through our lives like grains of sand slipping through our fingers. However the purpose everyone serves comes down to what you do with the opportunity.

Who is glaringly in your life right now that you don't spend the time with, don't make the effort with? What untold opportunities riches might this person bring to your life if you would only take the time and make the effort to unlock their treasure chest?

We all have filters, we all come with baggage. The law of the Ripple says you have to set those aside to truly experience and enjoy the riches the power of the Ripple can and will bring. Take the time. Get to know them. Explore why they are in your life or have crossed your path. Look for opportunities to create Ripples for them.

I truly believe if you look at people as a treasure chest of opportunity you will find you will have taken a significant step towards creating a Ripple-centric life. Let me tell you, that is the kind of life you really want!

Until next time.....

Treasure Chest

"People are an unbelievable treasure chest of opportunity. It just takes you picking the lock, lifting the lid and looking at what's inside."

Steve Harper
(This Steve Harper for my Canadian Friends)

My mantra. My vision. My true perception of the world and the people who are in it.

We often miss so many opportunities because we believe the person who crosses our path is simply in our way. Do you ever stop to think that perhaps the person was placed there at exactly that time for a reason?

What amazing opportunities could you discover if you just stopped and noticed? Might it be friendship? Might it be a professional reward? Might it be the winning lottery ticket to your personal and professional success? Might it be your true love?

Might...Might....Might....Might..... What a sad word eh?

People come into our lives for a reason, I truly believe that!

Who are we to judge why?

My challenge to you is to not miss the opportunities to open that treasure chest and look at what's inside when and if they are presented to you. The rewards that you find may very well be your own. The rewards you give very well may be your purpose for being here.

Make a Difference. Start To Ripple!
