Ripple Speak

I spoke this past Tuesday (May 17th) at two great organizations, The Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association (http://austin.marketingpower.com/) and The Jewish Business Network (http://www.austinjbn.org/). If you want to meet some high quality business professionals I highly suggest you check out one of their monthly meetings. You will be impressed!

I was amazed at the responses that I received following my talk(s). People over and over kept telling me how important the message of the "ripple" is and why it meant so much to them. Some great people shared stories of how little things done by others had made such a huge difference in their lives. I love hearing those stories and in short order, hope to begin publishing some of them on the blog or the ripple website.

I challenge everyone to take a personal inventory and look at those that have gone out their way to do something nice for you. Commit their names to paper and begin brainstorming how you can repay them. Think in terms of what's important to them and how you can play a role in helping them achieve something, earn something, gain something or realize something in their life. After all, they did it for you didn't they?

Surely after you develop your list, it will be quite lengthy but it is a practice that is really useful. First, it helps you remember some things that made a difference to you. Second, it will bring you back to that "state" of happiness/amazment at their gesture and that in its own right makes your present day better. Third, it helps you recognize that it may be time to make a phone call, send an email, make an introduction or whatever it is for this person's benefit. When you do that, you will be returning that ripple in a way that will surely be welcomed and undobtedly welcomed!
