It's All About The Special

I had an amazing time presenting at Applied Materials' Diversity Day yesterday.  Following my presentation a gentleman came up to me and said how much he appreciated my sharing my unique approach to connecting.  He said he's been trying to figure out how to set a new tone with his team and be a more engaged and approachable leader.  He said he thought my ideas were just what he was looking for.

One of the key areas that I talk about when I present to corporations about the importance of connecting and building relationships with co-workers, subordinates and even corporate leadership is how important it is to make people feel special.  When you go above and beyond to let someone know you hear and appreciate them, even on the little things, it makes an indelibly positive impression on them.

So whether you are trying to build better connections at work, build a better personal or professional network or simply want to make inroads to connecting better with your friends and family remember.....

It's all about the special.

Make them feel good in some small way and the Ripples of your effort may just create a tidal wave of unexpected benefit!

Steve,
It's a good point. Sometimes we work so hard at building our network of clients, potential clients and referral partners that we forget about the people we work with. And yet we depend on them even more than we need the customers. If you're in sales and you neglect the service people... watch out! I try to make sure that "Thank you for all your hard work today" is the last thing I say to my support staff every day.

Regards,
Beth

Beth,

Thank you so much for your comment. It totally excites me to see people like you out there that get it. I am sure your support staff appreciates your recognition of their effort and I hope people heed your advice and do the same thing with the people they work with. That simple but profound gesture makes an impact in the hearts and minds of employees in ways you can't even imagine!

Keep up the good Rippling my friend.

Thanks for sharing as always and of course...

Ripple On!!!
