Show You Care

Do you have people in your life that you would really like to know better? Perhaps it's a co-worker or employee or simply an acquaintance that has the potential to become a friend of professional colleague. What can you do to kick start the relationship building process?

Show you care?

Show you have interest in learning more about them. In fact there is no harm in saying exactly that to them!

"You know Sue we have worked together for two months and I realized that I don't really know anything about you outside of work. Why don't we go to lunch one day when you are free?"

"Mike I was really glad to meet you at the Chamber luncheon a few months ago. Let's get together over a beer and get to know one another one of these days."

"Susie I am so glad you came to work here. You really brighten up the place when you walk in the door. I obviously need to learn how to do that, do you have time for coffee later this week?"

"Chris you and I have seen each other at numerous business functions and I really want to get to know more about you and your business."

No matter how you ask it just ask it. Show people you care enough to want to invest the time in getting to know them and watch what happens. People are so used to other people not taking that additional step that I can honestly say they will be pleasantly shocked and impressed when you step outside the box to make an attempt to really connect.

Why not give it a try today. Who do you know in your office or in your network that you would really like to know better? Stop reading this BLOG and pick up the phone, walk down the hall or fire off a quick email. Show you care enough to take that first step. It might just prove to be a first step in a brand new adventure.

Thankful

Today I woke up and couldn't wait to spring from my bed. Today is a big day for me.

I have a coaching client that really needs me.

I have some very important power meetings today.

I am hosting my 8 Minute Ripple Connection Event tonight and I plan to put a unique spin on a creative exercise that should really drive home the power of connection and connection points for those in attendance. Stay tuned as I hope (hope is the operative word) to be able to share pictures from tonight.

I am still spinning from the amazing number of comments, emails and phone calls I received from yesterday's post. Thank you to all that reached out. Talk about a day full of amazing Ripples!

And last but not least I am thankful because....today will be a good day simply because it is a new day....a new chance to excel.

I think we all need to have days like this. Though most of my day will be filled with some measure of stress and worry hoping my meetings and event go well, I know that I am have control over only what I have control over and I can't sweat the small stuff. I think we all need to remind ourselves of that from time to time.

Most of all, I am just thankful to be here doing exactly what I want to be doing and making my own unique contribution out there in the world.

What about you? Did you spring from your bed this morning? What are you thankful for?

Who Do You Think You Are?

"Who do you think you are? I mean seriously, do you really think you of all people could ever possibly do anything that hasn't been done already? You want to change the world, just how can you, you alone, do that? I will believe it when I see it."

Those were the words that a fellow business colleague (and yes someone I consider a friend) said to me a few short months ago. It was in the middle of one of those conversations that went sort of like..."So when are you going to give up on this Ripple thing and go start a real company...do real work."

True, it would be easy to take those words as a put down; heck they were obviously meant to be. True, I could get mad and hold a grudge over this guy because he doesn't "drink the Kool-Aide" and jump on board the Ripple wagon. True I could simply ignore his ignorance and chalk it up to the guy being jealous on some level.

But what would that accomplish?

People...we all have someone in our life that will for whatever reason try and knock us off our path. We will always have detractors who say we can't accomplish something that we set our minds to. All of us will certainly have our share of people who don't qualify as fans.

But that's okay.

Who do you think you are? Answer that question openly and honestly. What in this world do you expect to accomplish? What will be your legacy?

You are exactly what YOU think you are. You are not what someone else thinks you are. You are not someone else's description. You are you. The quicker that you get comfortable in your own skin and recognize that nothing more important matters than knowing in your heart of hearts who you are deep down inside and living up to your fullest potential will life begin to hold real meaning and purpose for you.

To my friend and colleague, who do I think I am? I am the kid (well...hmmm not such a kid anymore) who is going to change the world with this "Ripple Thing!" That's who I know I am!

Thanks for the reminder.....

RIPPLE REWIND

I was doing some poking around this past weekend looking at some of my old posts, you know the posts I was writing when I didn't really think too many people were reading. Well I what I found were some pretty good posts that nobody was reading! (Smile). Now that we are getting a couple of thousand readers a week, I figured it might be fun to revisit a few of my favorites and see if you like them as much as I do.

So I give you RIPPLE REWIND:

Blind Traveler --- an original poem (of sorts) by yours truly. Click here to read.

Have an abundantly successful Monday full of Ripples!
